An international airline undertaking a business transformation initiative engaged Diligent Global to deliver inter-departmental integration. Senior management initiated a Recovery project to maximize the value of the SAP implementation. Flawed data migration had caused more than a year’s backlog of vendor invoices and purchase orders, resulting in an unreconciled GRIR balance. As part of the project’s scope, Diligent delivered enhancements to key functions including funds management, inter-company processes, and legacy system integration.

Solution components

Part of the solution was to develop a GRIR and Purchase Order Data Correction Cockpit to resolve inconsistencies in the migration of purchase orders and GRIR. The Funds Management function was re-engineered to meet a number of requirements, including budget-checking at parent account level, budget vs. actual reporting for each station, and bespoke financial reporting to Fast Close month-end processing. Enhancements were made to synchronize foreign currencies, and an Accrual Engine was implemented for prepaid expenses amortisation. FI-HR integration was achieved through the implementation of inter-company processes, including interface bug-fixing.

A global supplier to more than 400 hospitals with a huge supply chain of distributors, consignees and depots required a SAP implementation for one of their prominent regional operations. The key challenge was to integrate the logistics of various locations to achieve a single source of truth (SSOT) for sales, inventory and production.

Solution components

The scope was tightly controlled with an aggressive timeline of seven and a half months. Diligent successfully implemented S/4 HANA to map business processes in functions including manufacturing, sales, procurement, financial and cost management. Barcode and legacy HR applications were integrated with logistics, which required UAT and mock testing.

Diligent implemented S4 HANA 1511 F2 in addition to S4 HANA Finance and Simple Logistics. New S4 HANA functionality deployed:

Manage Bank Account
Asset Accountant
Credit Management
Enhanced product costing

Diligent was awarded the project to prepare going live with SAP, with additional scope to include a reorganization, the addition of a new refinery, data migration from & integration with IBM Maximo Asset Management and the payroll system. The challenge was to build custom solutions that included invoice payment certification and AFE approval. Custom costing solutions also needed to be built on Cost Center Accounting.

Solution components

The solution went live on schedule after a 24-week project. The scope, as agreed with our client at the start, was successfully managed throughout. Data migration was a major challenge, which included three years’ of purchase order and payment histories, and was achieved with the cutover window restricted to three days. Diligent successfully implemented all changes relating to the reorganization, meeting the client’s budget and quality requirements.
